Promoting the study of Indonesia in Australia.

WELCOME. Selamat datang.

Established in the year 2000, the Indonesia Council is a professional association for scholars and educators to promote and support the study of Indonesia within higher education. The Council sits within the Asian Studies Association of Australia, the peak body for university experts on Asia in Australia.

Our members are drawn together by a common interest in Indonesia and a commitment to promoting the value of that knowledge through education and research in Australia and Indonesian institutions and beyond.

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the school to help ensure students have the necessary support to do their best learning.

“The world desperately needs people who can understand and interpret all the complexities that are Indonesia. Australia is where it comes to find them.”
